Avoid problems down the line
Have you decided to work with Palette CAD and want to know what the technical requirements are? Or are you thinking about investing in new digital devices? Then we have some important information for you. Below is a list of the minimum requirements and our recommendations for your devices and hardware in order for the 3D software and all its features to work as smoothly as possible.
Essentially, a normal Windows PC is all you need to run Palette CAD, provided that it’s configured for graphics applications – a powerful graphics card is extremely important. Otherwise, the faster the computer, the smoother the design process. And the higher your screen resolution, the more detailed you can make your designs.

For notebooks and laptops we recommend the following hardware components:
Processor: Intel Core i7
Display: min. 15.6 inch, resolution min. full HD (1920 x 1080 px)
Graphics card: NVidia RTX-Reihe, z. B. RTX 2060 bis 2080 oder RTX 3060 bis 3080
Memory: 16 GB RAM or more
Hard drive: 250 GB SSD for operating system and Palette CAD
Internet connection: broadband

Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11 (the latest Service Pack is always required)
For desktop PCs we recommend the following hardware components:

Memory: 16 GB or more

We recommend the following mobile devices for using the Palette CAD apps (Palette Home, Palette Work, Palette Move):
- Apple iPad Pro
- Apple iPad from 2016 or later (min. iOS 12)
- Samsung / Huawei / Asus 8 inch and above (min. Android 7.0)
- iPhone 11 Pro Max
Whichever mobile device you choose, make sure that it has a gyroscope (acceleration and position sensor).
For the best results, use an up-to-date photo inkjet or colour laser printer.

Desktop PC graphics card: min. NVIDIA GTX 1080 / Titan or RTX 2060 to 3080 with 4 GB RAM
Laptop graphics card: min. NVIDIA GTX 1080 or RTX 2060 to 3080 with 4 GB RAM
Memory: min. 16 GB
Video output: HDMI 1.3-compatible video output / DisplayPort 1.2 or higher
USB ports: at least two ports with USB 3.0 standard or newer
Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11 (the latest Service Pack is always required)
Important: Please always obtain additional information from the manufacturers about the latest technical requirements for the use of VR glasses.

Internet access
To generate high-quality, photo-realistic and artistic visualisations, you will need a fast, powerful graphics card. We recommend graphics cards from NVIDIA Corporation. All display modes in Palette CAD run with GeForce GTX 460 series graphics cards and higher. It’s a good idea to invest in graphics cards from the middle to high-end price range. The various mobility products for notebooks (e.g. GTX 970M) are also suitable, although they are not as high-performance as desktop products. For more information, see www.nvidia.com
Our Palette products are optimised for graphics cards and drivers from the NVIDIA GTX and RTX series. Using other drivers means that NVIDIA Quadro graphics cards are only partially supported. We recommend testing the graphic card you’ve chosen before you buy. And bear in mind that manufacturers often supply graphics cards with outdated drivers, so it’s best to always install the latest driver version.
Using AMD (ATI) graphics cards can result in driver problems when selecting objects in Palette CAD. Sometimes updating the driver can help, but we recommend that you always test the graphics card before you buy.
